The mobile app I choose to review is Hulu. I am a cord-cutter and decided to eliminate cable or satellite television many years ago. I have an antenna television for the basic channels when I want to watch a show live or rely on Hulu for on-demand shows and movies. Hulu is a streaming service that offers live and on-demand shows and movies via their app, website, Roku, or however, you choose to stream. Hulu was founded in 2007 as a joint venture between News Corporation and NBC Universal, and later Providence Equity Partners and The Walt Disney Company. Hulu allows on-demand access to shows from every major U.S. broadcast network, such as 20th Television, The Walt Disney Company, ABC, NBCUniversals, CBS, The CW, Turner Networks, A+E Networks, and Discovery Networks. Access to on-demand shows on these networks is available 24 hours after they air. Hulu offers several different plans starting at 7.99 for Hulu with ads and 14.99 for no ads. Hulu also offers bundles including Disney+, ESPN+, and live TV for $ 69.99 monthly.
Hulu is easy to use and download. I downloaded the app on my iPhone via the app store, TV, and Roku. All methods have the same interface, which makes them easy to use. There is a convenient search bar to search for TV shows or movies. There are thumps up and down, which allow for better recommendations of movies/tv shows and the option to add your favorites to a list for easy access.
The top bar offers the following:
All –Any movie or tv recommendations, continue watching, and newly added
TV – View TVs under categories such as recommended, popular, and TV networks
Movies - View Movies under categories such as recommended, popular, and TV networks
Sports – View sporting events based on the type of sport
News – View the latest stories, news specials, and shows
The bottom bar offers the following
Home- Bring you back to all screen to view any movie or tv recommendations, continue watching, and newly added.
My stuff – Your favorites will appear here. Any items you placed a check mark on will appear here.
Search – Allows for searching names of Tv shows or movies
Profile – Notifications, Settings, Help, and log out
the plus sign will add the series to My Stuff. Thumbs up will recommend more shows like this. Thumbs down will remove this recommendation.
My only recommendation is for Hulu to play from the list instead of recommended. What I mean by that say I watch the current episode of The Resident. When that episode is over, it will try to play a recommended new episode instead something new from my list.
