Computers in the Workplace

The career field I choose to take a look at this week is the education field. As technology advances, schools are relying more and more on computers, whether in the classroom or giving options for online learning away from the typical classroom environment. Many students start learning computer skills in kindergarten, which requires teachers to know the basics of computers. Many school districts provide ipads to all students, which is the primary place most work is done. Kids log on to apps to complete assignments and submit work or post screenshots when the work has been completed. Through applications, students can work at their level and pace. According to edutopia.org, studies show that technology integration in the curriculum improves students' learning processes and outcomes. Students are more engaged and can become better creators. Teachers no longer have a chalkboard or the old projector. Instead, they can cast from their Ipad to a whiteboard. Teachers are responsible for keeping up and knowing how to use these technologies to become more efficient in the classroom and assist students.

Given the historical trend of computers, I see little changing in the education field in 10 years as far as the environment. The pandemic sped things along for the Education field. When the world shut down, schools had to hustle and figure out how to ensure kids still get an education. Schools are now equipped with the many tools to have live meetings with students on their school-issued devices. Students can post assignments and view educational tutorials. K-12 students still learn best in a school environment. There will likely be an emphasis on stem programs and students learning more computer-related studies. The learning will be more immersive with virtual reality and augmented reality to really bring subjects to life.
